Monogrammed Christmas Catch-All Tray
Build Date:
This catch-all tray was built from 8/4 ash as a Christmas gift, with the design centered around the small things that usually land by the door: keys, change, and everyday pocket items.
The tray was modeled in Fusion 360 before the CNC work so the pocket layout, western-style epoxy inlay monogram, and rounded change pocket could be planned together instead of treated as separate details.
Design Intent
The monogram was the personal part of the gift. A western-style font matched the recipient better than a generic initial, and filling the cut with epoxy turned it into an inlay that gave the tray a stronger focal point without taking away from its everyday function.
Finished Tray

The angled view shows the depth of the pockets and the finished shape of the ash tray. The top-down view makes the layout easier to read: an epoxy inlay monogram, space for daily carry items, and a rounded change pocket so coins are easier to scoop out.
A Useful Gift Detail
The small practical choice was the rounded change pocket. Instead of a sharp inside corner where coins can get trapped, the pocket has a friendlier curve that makes loose change easier to grab.
That is the part I like most about this project: the CNC work and Fusion 360 planning are there to support a simple handmade gift, not to make the object feel complicated.
