Front Porch Bench
Build Date:
This front porch bench was designed around real constraints instead of starting from a blank slate. The cushion came first, the height had to stay below the window, and the frame needed to be sturdy enough for regular porch use.
The final bench is a hand-built pine piece with a white finish, an easy-to-replace At Home cushion, and a CNC-carved backrest with a G monogram and circle details. Fusion 360 helped work through the proportions before the shop build started.
Design Constraints
The bench started with the practical parts first: a standard cushion size, a Fusion 360 model, and the front porch window height that the finished bench needed to stay below.

Hand Build and CNC Details
The bench itself was built by hand from pine. The CNC work was used for the backrest details, including the G monogram and the circle patterns.

Finish and Porch Fit
After assembly, the white finish tied the bench into the porch trim and made the carved backrest read clearly against the stone and window.

The finished bench keeps the porch window clear while giving the space a custom focal point. Because the seat was sized around a standard cushion, swapping in a replacement or changing the color later should be straightforward.
