Project

Walnut and Cherry Cherub Gift Box

Build Date:

I made this wooden gift box for YaYa with a walnut body, metal feet, and a cherry lid carved with a cherub angel. The cherub was my first CNC relief carve, so the project became both a keepsake and a useful milestone for relief carving.

Fusion 360 handled the CAM for the carved lid, and splines were added for support. Inside the base, a birdseye maple stripe gives the box a second detail to discover after the lid comes off.

Finished Exterior

The outside view shows the walnut case, raised metal feet, and cherry lid working together as a finished gift box.

Carved Cherry Lid

The cherub relief is the technical centerpiece of the build and the first CNC relief carve I completed for a project like this.

Final Result

The finished piece keeps the technical firsts tucked inside a warm gift object: walnut body, cherry carved lid, raised metal feet, splined support, and a small maple reveal inside.
